The following organizations need volunteer help for a day, a week or on a regular basis.

American Red Cross: Answer phones, enter data and provide administrative support at the Leesburg office. 703-777-7171 or lcarc@usa.redcross.org.

Ashburn Volunteer Knitters: Knit small blankets and caps for hospitals. Recommended for age 12 and older. Bring bamboo needles and worsted-weight yarn. Registration required. 703-737-8100 or www.lcpl.lib.va.us.

Bluemont Concert Series: Welcome guests, take admissions and help set up and clean up during the summer concert series, with shows in central and northwestern Virginia. A volunteer meeting for the Leesburg event will be 7-8 p.m. tomorrow and for the Warrenton event 6:30 p.m. Thursday. 540-338-4640, jackie@bluemont.org.

BWI Airport: Provide travelers with assistance and information regarding parking, airlines, concessions, terminal navigation and tourist attractions. The Pathfinder program includes a full-day orientation, an airport tour and one-on-one training with a mentor. 410-859-7826 or bwipathfinders@bwiairport.com.

Cascades Library: Teens needed to sort books, organize and cut craft materials, and help clean the children’s area. Recommended for ages 12-18. Offered once a month. Registration necessary. 703-444-3228 or www.lcpl.lib.va.us.

CrisisLink: Help staff a suicide and crisis hotline. Must be at least 18, must complete training and must be able to volunteer three hours a week. 703-527-6016 or www.crisislink.org.

Dodona Manor: Docents needed for museum tours at the home of George C. Marshall, former U.S. secretary of state. 703-777-1301 or tours@georgecmarshall.org.

Dulles International Airport: Greet and help travelers at information desk. One shift of three to four hours per week. Airline operations and customer service experience and knowledge of foreign languages helpful but not necessary. 703-572-7350, volunteer@mwaa.com.

ESL and Immigrant Ministries: Teach English as a second language to Northern Virginia adults. Training provided. 703-271-8341, Ext. 3, eslim02@gmail.com, www.eslim.org.

Fauquier Historical Society: Greet visitors and help curatorial staff document artifacts at the Old Jail Museum in downtown Warrenton. No experience necessary. Seniors and young adults welcome. 540-347-5525 or oldjailmuseum@erols.com.

Girl Scouts of America: Serve as a mentor for a few hours each month. 202-237-1670, 800-523-7898.

Golden Dreams Therapeutic Riding Center: Volunteers needed for a nonprofit organization near Middleburg that offers therapeutic riding for the physically, mentally and emotionally disabled. 540-687-5800 or carinae@aol.com.

Good Shepherd Alliance: Doctors, registered nurses and other medical staff members are needed to work with pregnant women and new mothers at a transitional house. 703-433-2631.

Home-Delivered Meals Program: Deliver warm meals to homebound seniors in Loudoun. 703-777-0257 or dbressle@loudoun.gov.

Leesburg Police Citizens Support Team: Conduct neighborhood patrols, traffic and seat-belt surveys, direct traffic during emergencies and distribute safety information and DNA sampling kits. Commitment of at least four hours a month. 703-771-4522, www.leesburgsupportteam.org.

Loudoun Community Free Clinic: Doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, chiropractors, physical therapists, educators, Spanish interpreters, administrators, dietitians and grant writers are needed at the clinic, which offers health care to the uninsured. Loudoun Habitat for Humanity: Volunteers needed for the local branch of national organization that builds affordable housing for the needy, volunteers@loudounhabitat.org.

Loudoun Symphony: Ushers and production assistants needed. Positions also available in the box office, in the symphony office and for special events. Volunteers receive free admission to concerts. 703-777-8287, www.loudounsymphony.org.

Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers: Help seniors and people with disabilities with transportation and other needs. 703-779-8617, www.lvcaregivers.org.

Loudoun Volunteer Financial: Provide financial education on such topics as debt management, money management, reviewing credit reports, budgeting and bankruptcy. Training offered tomorrow 6-9 p.m. 703-771-5419.

Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy: Work to preserve and protect Loudoun’s natural resources. 540-882-9638, www.loudounwildlife.org.

Make-a-Wish Foundation: Spanish speakers needed to help children with life-threatening illnesses. 301-962-9474.

MADD Loudoun: Assemble ribbons for the annual Tie One On for Safety campaign. Stores and businesses also needed to distribute ribbons. Students can earn two community service hours for every 500 ribbons assembled. 703-771-8127, maddloudoun@aol.com.

Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program: Visit nursing homes and assisted-living facilities four hours a week. Responsibilities include promoting residents’ rights by working with them, their families and staff. 703-324-5422, www.fairfaxcounty.gov/ltcombudsman.
