Authorities are investigating an assault in Sterling and a man who attempted to flee from police on foot after a traffic stop, according to a daily report from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

- Traffic Stop: An Ashburn man was charged with assault and battery, destruction of property, trespassing, obstruction of justice, and driving without a license after attempting to flee from the police. A Loudoun Sheriff's Deputy initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle of Vincent Antonio Wilson, 21, around 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the 46800 block of Ducksprings Way in Sterling. He fled on food, damaging a wooden fence in the process, and struck a citizen who tried to help deputies restrain the man. A second deputy assisted in the chase and Wilson was caught. He remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center without bond.

- Assault/Attempted Robbery: Sheriff's Deputies responded to the emergency room of Inova Hospital at Lansdowne for a reported victim of an assault and robbery. The 19-year-old man was walking in the area of West Maple Avenue near Guilford Elementary School around 11:40 p.m. on Wednesday when he was approached from behind. He was then assaulted by several more people. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the case.
