A 34-year-old Sterling man is dead and another is injured after two serious, single-vehicle traffic accidents today.
The first crash, which occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Potomac View Road near Leesburg took the life of Denis Alberto Sanchez, who died on the scene when his 2000 Jeep struck a tree.
"We believe the accident this morning was a result of inattention or possibly falling asleep," said Kraig Troxell, public information officer at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. "The vehicle gradually went off the road. There was no evasive action."
The second crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. near Snake Hill Road and St. Louis Road near Middleburg, Va. As of 4 p.m., the Loudoun County Sherriff's Department could not confirm the status of those injured at the second accident.
"The accident near Middleburg is being dealt with," Troxell said.
The Sheriff's Office said motorists are advised to expect delays in the area of St. Louis Road (Route 611) south of Foxcroft Road. Members of the Virginia State Police are currently investigating the crash.
