Authorities helped recover a missing child in Ashburn and investigated burglaries, according to a daily report from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
Missing Child Located: A 9-year-old was reported missing in the 44000 block of Ferncliff Terrace in Ashburn at 1:07 a.m. today after having not been seen for several hours. Deputies canvassed the area, a Virginia State Police Helicopter searched from the air and a Loudoun County Sheriff's Office bloodhound were also at the scene. After a three-hour search, the child was located at a nearby residence. He was unharmed.
Burglary: Two video game systems were removed from a residence in the 21000 block of Forum Terrace in Sterling between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Burglary/Grand Larceny: A laptop computer, a GPS system and other items were removed from a residence on the 37300 block of Branchriver Road in Purcellville by a subject who was believed to have entered through a window between 11:30 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Tampering with a Vehicle: A GPS unit, an MP3 player, a cell phone and other accessories were removed from a vehicle on the 300 block of Silver Ridge Drive in Sterling between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Larceny: One hundred feet of copper flashing, valued at $400, were removed from the 21900 block of Willisville Road in Bluemont between July 9 and July 16.
Destruction of Property: The kitchen cabinets and flooring of a house under construction were damaged on the 14100 block of Salem Church Way in Purcellville between July 9 and July 16.
