Other games Monday night in Loudoun County:
Park View Pulls Away From Briar Woods
Park View got big games from senior forward Thomas Mulabah, junior guard Marcus Freeman and senior guard/forward Danny Foley and survived a scoring assault from junior guard/forward Bryan Mahoney to secure an 85-67 victory over visiting Briar Woods on Monday night in a Dulles District game.
Mulabah scored a team-high 26 points and Freeman added 21, including three three-pointers. Foley chipped in with 18 points.
Mahoney outdid them all, pouring in 39 points, including 9 of 11 from three-point range. It was his scoring, along with the efforts of junior guard/forward Terrance Ferrell (16 points), that kept the Falcons (1-11, 0-6) within range for most of the game. But ultimately, the Patriots (8-4, 4-2) were able to pull away in the final period.
On Wednesday, Briar Woods will host Potomac Falls and Park View will play at Freedom-South Riding in Dulles District action.
Broad Run Keeps Pace With Loudoun County
The Broad Run girls' basketball team used a familiar formula on Monday against Potomac Falls: defense and Alexis Campbell.
The senior guard had a strong all-around game and the Spartans stifled the Panthers in the second quarter to secure a 67-46 home victory in a Dulles District matchup.
The victory, Broad Run's second straight, allowed the Spartans (8-5, 5-1) to remain a game behind Loudoun County in the district standings. The Raiders defeated Broad Run on Jan. 8, and the teams will square off again on Feb. 5.
