Broad Run Holds Off Park View

R.J. Jasper scored 14 points and Devon Earl added 13 to lead Broad Run to a 61-55 victory over visiting Park View in a Dulles District game Friday night.

Broad Run (6-6, 4-1) jumped out to an 18-9 lead after the first quarter and held on from there, despite the best efforts of the Patriots' Thomas Mulabah.

Mulabah scored a game-high 26 points for Park View (7-4, 3-2).

On Monday, Park View will host Briar Woods while Broad Run plays at Potomac Falls.

Marshall Edges Stone Bridge

Junior forward Ray Parker scored a game-high 18 points but it wasn't enough as visiting Marshall beat Stone Bridge, 55-51, on Friday in a Liberty District showdown.

Marshall (5-7, 1-3) took a 26-19 halftime lead and led by 11 after three quarters before Stone Bridge (3-7, 0-4) made the score close.

Stone Bridge will host McLean on Tuesday in a district matchup.

Broad Run Pushes Aside Park View

Senior guard Alexis Campbell scored a game-high 20 points to lead Broad Run to a 49-42 victory at Park View on Friday night in a Dulles District game.

It was Campbell's play -- she also had 9 rebounds and 6 assists -- that helped the Spartans (7-5, 4-1) jump out to a 28-21 halftime lead. But as usual, it was their defense that helped clinch the game as the Patriots scored only six points in the final quarter after drawing to within 39-36 at the end of the third.

Broad Run, which led the entire game, also got 13 rebounds from sophomore forward/center Maggie Andricosky.

Senior guard Paige Pierson led Park View (7-4, 3-2) with 12 points.

On Monday, Broad Run hosts Potomac Falls and Park View hosts Briar Woods in Dulles District action.

Freedom Beats Heritage

Freedom-South Riding was apparently not looking ahead to its game against streaking Loudoun County.

Sophomore center Kelsey Buchanan had 13 points to lead the Eagles to a 46-18 victory at home over Heritage in a Dulles District game Friday night.

Buchanan had almost as many field goals (six) as the entire Heritage team combined (seven).

Freedom (8-4, 4-1) has won five straight; Heritage fell to 3-8 overall, 1-4 in the district.

The Eagles will host district-leading Loudoun County on Monday while Heritage will host Dominion.

Stone Bridge Gets a Win

Junior guard Courtney Bryant scored a game-high 19 points to lead Stone Bridge to a 63-47 victory over host Marshall on Friday night in a Liberty District game.

Senior guard Amy Spring added 13 points, including three three-pointers, to help the Bulldogs (4-8, 1-4) pull away for their fist district win.

Dawn Emerson led Marshall (4-7, 0-4) with 13 points.
