Potomac Falls senior Alex Hogue continued his hot shooting streak Monday night in a bout with George Mason, scoring a game-high 22 points and propelling his team to a second-straight win.
In a victory over rival Park View Friday night, Hogue played similarly, scoring 18 points off three-pointers and leading the way for a come-from-behind win.
This time, though, there was no need for late-game heroics, as Potomac Falls (5-5, 2-1 AA Dulles) led virtually the entire way to finish with a 58-52 win.
But like the last game, the team has much to be happy about in the play of Hogue.
"He's a shooter," Panther head coach Jeff Hawes said. "When he gets going, he's tough."
It took two quarters for Hogue to find his outside rhythm, but when it started, it didn't stop. In the third, he reeled off three three-pointers to finish with 11 points in the quarter.
This outside presence is something his coach is counting on.

"He's probably our pure-scorer," Hawes said. "We need him to score."
Hogue's go-to status is something that he has come to take great pride in, as more and more offensive plays are designed to exploit his hot hand.
"It feels good," Hogue said. "It makes you feel like he [Hawes] wants you to shoot and he's putting his trust in you to take those threes."
The Mustangs (3-8, 0-0 A Bull Run) led by junior Joel Chandler's 18 points and 11 rebounds, still played tough after a first half in which they trailed by 10. With less than two minutes to play, George Mason got the score to within six, but intentional penalties proved to be their downfall, as the strategy put the score out of reach.
To go along with Hogue's four threes, three other Panthers hit from beyond the arc.
NOTES: Panthers sophomore Tarrell Owens finished with 11 points and three steals … Mustang senior Mike Schwengel got a technical foul in the fourth quarter for comments made to one of the referees … The two teams met last December, but with the same result. On that day, the Panthers pummeled George Mason, 73-46.
