Devine said that the new tenants -- David Wright, David Sly and Steve Heaton -- are actors and comedians and plan on screening new movies and cult classics. Devine said they will also offer improvisational comedy. Wright is a member of Last Ham Standing, a local improv comedy group, Devine said.
“I’m really excited because they are actors and they will bring the Tally Ho some stage presence,” Devine said. “They’re going to be staying open later and offering more broad-based entertainment. It will still be family-oriented, but they’re looking to make it a later-night venue as well.”
The theater was previously operated by Judy Wilson, who screened popular movies, documentaries and foreign films. Wilson, who operated the theater for five years, chose to terminate her lease in December because of increased competition from other theaters and the cost of capital improvements.
Devine said the new tenants signed their lease in December.
