Eight people were displaced Wednesday night after fire damaged part of a Sterling townhouse. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters responded at about 8:12 p.m. Wednesday to the fire at 46024 Bayswater Terrace in the Grovewood subdivision in Sterling, the Loudoun County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management said.
Officials said the attached garage of a three-story end unit was engulfed in flames. Fire and smoke also made their way to the inside of the home and threatened other townhouses, authorities said.
The fire was extinguished about 15 minutes after firefighters arrived.
Eight adults – six from the unit where the fire occurred and two from a neighboring townhouse – were displaced. Officials worked with the Loudoun chapter of the American Red Cross to provide help to the residents.
Investigators said the cause of the fire was accidental in nature. Damage was estimated at $100,000.

Six adults in a townhouse? Makes one wonder if we have a zoning violation here. What's the rule on occupancy again?
