Dog Is Sought After Bite
Loudoun County authorities said Friday that they were seeking the public's help in finding a dog that bit a child at Station Auto Wash in Leesburg on Tuesday.
They described the dog as a small to medium, white and brown terrier type. The dog wore a collar and might be named Max. The child had minor injuries, officials said.
The county's animal control department is seeking to speak with the dog's owner to verify its vaccination status. Anyone with information about the incident or the dog is asked to call 703-777-0406.
Lessons on Rain Barrels
Two workshops to teach Leesburg residents about the benefits of rain barrels will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 at Tuscarora Creek Park in Leesburg.
The sessions will be presented by the Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District and Leesburg. They will include an opportunity for participants to make a rain barrel to take home.
Town officials said they organized the workshops because rain barrels are reemerging as an economical and practical way for homeowners to conserve water, reduce runoff, save money and help protect watersheds. The barrels collect water that runs off roofs, making it available to water plants, fill birdbaths, wash cars and other uses. Collected water can be used in toilet tanks when a well pump is not working.
The workshops are for Leesburg residents only; registration is required.
To register, visit www.leesburgva.gov. For information, call 703-777-2075 or 703-771-2766.
