Dominion Loses at the Buzzer
Junior guard Jahmal Jones scored only 10 points Thursday night, but he made them count.
Jones hit a three-pointer as time expired to lift Centreville to a 74-71 victory over Dominion in the quarterfinals of the McLean Holiday Tournament at McLean High School.
The Titans had rallied from a 39-31 halftime deficit thanks to another strong performance from junior guard Deandre Albritton, who scored a game-high 34 points. Albritton had two three-pointers and made 14 of 20 from the free-throw line.
Centreville (2-5) also got a big performance from junior guard/forward Ryan Farrar, who scored a career-high 32 points.
Dominion (2-4) will next face Stuart on Friday afternoon in the McLean Holiday Tournament’s consolation round.
Big Fourth-Quarter Rally Dooms Freedom-South Riding
Freedom-South Riding appeared poised to spring an upset Thursday night. Then Woodbridge found its offense.
Woodbridge used a fourth-quarer flurry to rally past Freedom-South Riding, 55-42, in a quarterfinal game of the Bulldog Bash at Westfield High School.
Freedom-South Riding had staked itself to a 32-30 lead entering the fourth quarter before Woodbridge (5-2) outscored the Eagles, 25-10.
Senior guard Troy Dockett had a game-high 21 points for Freedom-South Riding (2-4) while junior forward Ron Campbell added 11.
Woodbridge (5-2) was led by Aaron Jones, who scored 20 points.
Freedom-South Riding will face Liberty on Friday in a consolation game at the Bulldog Bash.

Freedom-South Riding got off to a great start in its first holiday tournament game on Thursday.
Junior center Kelsey Buchanan had 21 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks to lead Freedom to a 54-25 victory over Fairfax in a quarterfinal game in the Cougar Holiday Classic at Oakton High School.
Freedom advances to play West Potomac in a semifinal game Friday night. West Potomac defeated McLean, 48-45, on Thursday.
After a close first quarter, Freedom (4-3) outscored Fairfax, 14-1, in the second to take a 24-9 lead at halftime.
Junior guard Lisa Charney and sophomore guard Kayla DeSalvo scored 10 points apiece to lead Fairfax (1-4).
Dominion Falls Short Against Freedom-Woodbridge
Dominion played much better Thursday, but still could not avoid its sixth straight loss.
The Titans fell behind early and rallied late before falling to Freedom-Woodbridge, 57-53, in their second game of the Bulldog Bash at Westfield High School.
Sophomore guard Colleen Reynolds had 15 points to lead Dominion (2-6), while senior forward Allyson Reed and senior guard Tiffany Jones both scored 13.
The Titans were coming off a 53-36 loss to Midlothian on Wednesday and it appeared to be more of the same Thursday as Freedom-Woodbridge (2-4) took a 33-21 halftime lead. But Dominion rallied, outscoring the Eagles, 14-7, in the fourth quarter to make it close.
Dominion next faces Lee High School on Friday in a Bulldog Bash tournament game.
Stone Bridge Falls to Georgetown Visitation
The Bulldogs were unable to keep up with Georgetown Visitation from the start Thursday.
Sophomore guard Nicole Krusen had 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists to help Georgetown Visitation cruise past Stone Bridge, 63-25, in the first game of the six team Chantilly Classic at Chantilly High School.
Stone Bridge was outscored, 18-3, in the second quarter and trailed 38-13 at halftime.
Senior guard Allison McDaniel added 13 for Georgetown Visitation (10-0).
Junior guard Courtney Bryant had 11 points to lead the Bulldogs (2-5), which will face Chantilly on Friday in their second Chantilly Classic game.
Broad Run Girls Win
Alexis Campbell had 13 points and 10 steals and Haley Johnson added 15 points to lead Broad Run to a 52-36 victory over Cox on Thursday in the Virginia Beach Holiday Classic at First Colonial High School.
The Spartans (5-3), which led 21-16 at halftime, will face First Colonial on Friday morning in their Beach Classic finale.
