Loudoun County Girls Continue Streak
Finally playing at home but playing on consecutive nights, the Loudoun County High girls’ basketball team kept right on winning.
The Raiders opened their home schedule and Dulles District play Tuesday night with a 66-60 victory over Park View thanks to key contributions from several players.
Despite coming off a 75-23 victory over Fairfax on Monday night, Loudoun County (6-2, 1-0) won its fourth straight game as five players scored in double figures.
Sophomore forward Kendra Holmes continued her strong play in the post, piling up 12 points and 14 rebounds. Junior guard Kerry Sarver added 10 points and 8 assists while freshman guard Brittany Batts finished with a team-high 13 points.
Despite the strong team play, Loudoun County could not shake Park View (3-2, 0-1). Behind 14 points from junior guard Rachael Miller and 12 from freshman guard Shernise Disney, the Patriots trailed by only one point at halftime and after the third quarter.

Broad Run Takes Charge in District Opener
In a game with no shortage of fouls, Broad Run was able to rise above it and come out with a crucial home victory Tuesday night in its Dulles District opener.
Senior guard Alexis Campbell had 19 points and 6 rebounds before fouling out to lead the Spartans to a 58-47 win over Briar Woods.
The game featured 45 fouls, including 27 by Broad Run, which had three players foul out. But Briar Woods (2-2, 0-1) could not take advantage, missing 16 of 38 free throws.

And despite the barrage of fouls, the Spartans jumped out to a 35-17 hafltime lead thanks to a strong performance by Campbell. The team captain scored many of her points on pull-up jumpers, a new dimension to her offensive game this season.
Caitlin Hunter, who sat on the bench most of the fourth quarter with four fouls, added 11 rebounds for Broad Run (3-3, 1-0).

Heritage Rallies to Beat Potomac Falls
Heritage got a late start, but it was able to finish off Potomac Falls Tuesday night.
Senior guard Brianna Mitchell and freshman guard/forward Erika Grabbi helped the Pride rally to a 52-48 victory over the visiting Panthers in the Dulles District opener for both teams.
Mitchell had 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists while Grabbi had 8 points and 9 rebounds for Heritage (2-2, 1-0).
Potomac Falls (2-2, 0-1) led 13-3 after the first quarter but Heritage outscored the Panthers, 32-18, in the middle two quarters to take the lead.
Potomac Falls was led by sophomore forward Raven Short, who had a game-high 17 points, including three three-pointers. Sophomore guard Symone Berry added 15.

Freedom Opens With Victory Over Dominion
Sophomore center Kelsey Buchanan had 13 points and 9 rebounds to help Freedom open Dulles District play with a 48-37 victory over host Dominion Tuesday night.
Senior forward Alicen Heinrich added 11 points and four rebounds for Freedom (2-2, 1-0), which jumped out to a 25-11 lead. Junior point guard Meixandra Porter had a good all-around game with 9 points, 5 steals and 4 assists.
Junior guard Lauryn Hutchinson had 12 points to lead Dominion (1-3, 0-1).

Stone Bridge Has an Easy Time With Falls Church
It was exactly the kind of game Stone Bridge needed.
The Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday night at home with an emphatic 52-22 victory over Falls Church in a nonleague game.
Stone Bridge (2-3) led 12-2 after the first quarter and 33-9 at halftime as Falls Church (0-6) never recovered.
Junior guard Courtney Bryant led all scorers with 15 points and senior guard Amy Spring added nine points on three three-pointers.
The Bulldogs travel to W.T. Woodson Friday night to square of in a AAA Liberty matchup.
