Eleven people have applied to fill C. Kelly Burk's seat on the Leesburg Town Council.
Burk, who was elected to the council in 2004, will be sworn in later this month as the Leesburg representative for the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.
The following people have applied to serve the remainder of Burk's four-year term, which expires June 30, 2008: Stephen Axeman; David Butler; John Drury; Mary Haberl; Benjamin Burk Keay; David C. Miles; Weaver Samuel III; David D. Schmidt; Todd Severance; Bob Steere and Robert Zoldos.
The town council is expected to select Burk's replacement later this month or early next year, said town clerk Judy Ahalt.
The town council will hold an election May 6 to fill Burk's seat and the seats of Mayor Kristen Umstattd, Vice Mayor Susan B. Horne and council member Kathryn “Katie” S. Hammler.
