Minutes after finishing practice in the school's gym on Thursday, Stone Bridge coach Mickey Thompson and senior running back/safety Jeron Gouveia sat down for an interview to discuss the team's 38-24 victory over defending state champions Phoebus as well as the Bulldogs' preparation for Saturday's state championship game against Potomac.

Thompson, who has been close to a state title as head coach at Stone Bridge -- advancing to at least the state semifinals four times since the school opened -- said he wants to win the state championship for his team and for all of the players who have come through the program.

"I guess when I'm 70 years old it'll be important to me," Thompson said. "Right now I feel the responsibility to get this thing done for the seniors that are here and the guys that have played -- all those guys that have played before to build this thing."
Gouveia also touched on the importance of the game and said the team is prepared.
"As far as being ready, I think we're ready to go," Gouveia said.
