Dulles Airport Has 22.4% Traffic Gain

Passenger traffic at Dulles International Airport showed a sharp acceleration in the first quarter this year, although still far below original expectations.

There were 311,259 inbound and outbound passengers in 1 three-month period, an increase of 22.4 per cent over the like 1966 period.

The Bureau of National Capital Airports reported domestic airlines carried 273,232 riders in and out of Dulles in the January-March period, a gain of 19.4 per cent.

International airlines had 20,422 passengers, for a gain of 48.6 per cent in the first quarter. General aviation and military had 17,605 passengers, up 50 per cent.

In cargo handling, Dulles showed a negligible gain in 1he first quarter. The total was 8,718,000 pounds, for an increase of 0.6 per cent over the first period of 1966.
