Elementary Math Investigations Program Meeting for Parents

Description: An informational meeting to discuss the Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) elementary math investigations program will take place on Monday, February 25 at John W. Tolbert Elementary School in Leesburg.
This meeting, hosted by LCPS, is for parents and guardians of students in kindergarten through grade five.
The discussion will include details of elementary math investigations program, its findings, and how it will be implemented in the future.
Staff also will offer ideas for how parents can support their children’s efforts in either math program.
This informational meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will end no later than 8 p.m.
BACKGROUND: The Investigations program emphasizes student engagement and problem solving through the use of “inquiry activities.” Investigations are being used as the primary math program in a small number of LCPS elementary schools. In the other elementary schools, a blended approach has been implemented that provides instruction from the textbook and two units of Investigations per marking period.
