Questions & Answers

Q: How would you rate your town’s relationship with Loudoun County officials and what, if anything, would you do to improve that relationship?

A: It is pretty good. But communication is the key. And we can always use better and more open lines of communication. Also, the Town must use more County services for which we already pay taxes.

Q: Do you believe additional steps are needed to control the pace of development in your community?

A: Our regulatory process needs to be more effective so that developers know what to expect when dealing with the Town. This will allow us to manager securely those developments which encroach upon our borders

Q: What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

A: Increased taxes caused by growth. Growth has caused our community to spend more money on roads to relieve traffic congestion. Growth has caused our community to build more and bigger schools. Growth has caused governments to expand and create more and more regulations. Thus growth has caused an ever-increasing tax burden on the citizens to pay for all these increased services. It is therefore more important now that our governing bodies choose wisely where to spend tax dollars. Any tax relief can only come from responsible government spending.

Q: In March, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the transportation package passed by lawmakers last year unconstitutional, endangering major projects across the region. What steps, if any, should the county, region and state take to address funding issues for transportation projects?

A: The state should be assisting our community more in building roads. Our tax dollars are being use to build roads all over this state. Council must work to secure our tax dollars for our roads

Q: Why should voters elect you?

A: Nine years of service to Leesburg has uniquely prepared me for leadership needed on council. I understand the system and am committed to proactive solutions.
