Questions & Answers

Q: What is the most urgent problem facing your jurisdiction?

A: I believe the most urgent issue facing Purcellville is the growing budget, spending and debt, which is placing a disproportionate burden on each Purcellville resident and taxpayer; the lawsuits against our own county, which we pay for in Purcellville and Loudoun taxes; the continued obstruction of a badly needed high school; and long-range solutions to our water supply issues. We need to provide excellent services to our citizens, but scale the size of our government relative to the size of our town.

Q: How would you rate your town’s relationship with Loudoun County officials and what, if anything, would you do to improve that relationship?

A: The current relationship between Purcellville and Loudoun County is adversarial. We need to drop the lawsuits against the county and foster a better relationship with our county for the benefit of our citizens.

Q: Do you believe additional steps are needed to control the pace of development in your community?

A: We need to maintain control over our town's growth while recognizing we are the economic hub of western Loudoun - which we can benefit from in many ways, including being business friendly and supporting businesses.

Q: In March, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the transportation package passed by lawmakers last year unconstitutional, endangering major projects across the region. What steps, if any, should the county, region and state take to address funding issues for transportation projects?

A: As a town in Loudoun, we must work with the county to secure priority and funding of projects important to us which is one reason why a good working relationship with the county is important.

Q: Why should voters elect you?

A: I will oppose the lawsuits against the county, work with the county to build Woodgrove, and bring fiscal responsibility to lower debt, taxes and fees.
