New Law Makes Computer Recycling Even Easier: The Loudoun County Department of Construction and Waste Management reminds residents that they have a variety of options when it comes to recycling electronics.
As of July 1, 2009, a new law went into effect in Virginia requiring computer manufacturers to provide free recycling of their computers and computer monitors sold for personal or home-office use. The most commonly used method is a free mail-back system provided by the manufacturer.
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has more information online at www.deq.state.va.us/ecycling/computerManufacturersNotifications.html. You may also call the Loudoun County Recycling Hotline for more information at 703-771-5318.
There are also many local recycling options for all types of electronics.
Residents and businesses may contact the Department of Construction & Waste Management at 703-777-0187 or visit www.loudoun.gov/electronics for more information.
