Leesburg Council Member Utilizes Web to Keep Constituents Informed: Leesburg Town Council Member, Kevin Wright, recently revised the look and feel of his website to help keep residents more informed. The website, which operates as a blog, features regular posts about community events, issues before the Town Council, and other items of interest to constituents.

With the controversial issue of water rates before the Council, Council Member Wright has posted extensive information on the website about water rates. This is to provide residents with background information, an explanation of the water rate issue, and how it will impact residents.

"When a complex issue is before the Council it is important to get the facts and information out to constituents in a manner that is accessible and understandable." stated Wright. "Providing constituents with the facts of what is before the Council helps to engage them in the public discussion and fosters a debate focused on the facts as opposed to incomplete information or misperceptions of the issue."

Another benefit of the website is the citizen's ability to view analysis and explanation for Council decisions. "The goal I have in updating the website is to provide factual information on issues, as well as explanations for how I have voted on an issue. Being careful to minimize "spin" and just get information out to constituents. I feel that is what they expect and deserve" explained Wright.

You can follow the "blog" regularly at www.wrightforleesburg.org. The website is authorized, paid for, and operated by Council Member Wright at his personal expense.
