Lovesick Author Brings Prizes and Surprises To Middleburg; CNN Producer To Sign and Discuss His New Novel: Alex Wellen, a writer, inventor and award-winning television producer for CNN, will be at Books & Crannies, 19 E. Washington Street, Middleburg, VA, on Saturday, July 25, 2-4 p.m., to discuss and sign Lovesick, his intriguing new novel—and the bookstore will be serving popcorn and lemonade to set the mood, since they believe this book should be a movie. The author will be handing out prizes and surprises to customers.
Lovesick is a book that Publisher’s Weekly calls “part mystery, part romance and part screwball comedy…that keeps its varied elements from spinning out of control with a fresh, confident voice.”
Lovesick dispels some of the common misconceptions about men and how they approach marriage. This book sets out to prove that despite common belief, most men want to get married, and that they even fantasize about buying the engagement ring and orchestrating the perfect romantic setup before popping the question. Lovesick is a novel whose hero, Andy Altman, is as ordinary a young man as one can find. From the opening page, Andy wants to get married and he has found a girl who wants the same. Only then do his real troubles begin.
Andy works at Day’s Pharmacy and hates his job. His boss is miserable, and Andy would quit in an instant—except that he’s hopelessly in love with the boss’s daughter. He hatches a preposterous plan that quickly goes awry but he nevertheless succeeds in winning his beloved’s acceptance. He soon discovers that his boss—and presumptive father-in-law—has a lot to hide. What ensues is hilarious, a little wild and wholly entertaining.
Lovesick is the perfect midsummer read.
