Church Partners with Enrich NOVA::Generosity Can and Kids R First to Collect Backpacks for Local Disadvantaged Children: Restore Community Church is hosting a Free Family Day at Downpour Water Park in Algonkian Regional Park. The event is open for all residents living in the greater Sterling community. Restore is partnering with Enrich NOVA::Generosity Can and Kids R First to host the event and collect new back-to-school backpacks for local children in need.
The Free Family Day will be held at Algonkian Regional Park on August 23 from 11am – 7pm. Families coming should bring one or more new backpacks to drop off at the entrance to Downpour; Restore will donate the items to Kids R First which will distribute the backpacks to children in need through local schools. There are over 3500 children in need of back-packs in the Sterling / Ashburn communities alone.
The Free Family Day event is only the latest of Restore Community Church’s work to serve families in the local community and inspire generosity among local residents. Restore Community Church is less than one year old but it has already worked with Sterling residents to:
· collect and deliver over 900 pounds of food to local food pantries;
· feed over 100 under resourced families a week of meals each;
· provide over $2500 of resources to people coming out of homelessness;
· move a single mom from a hostile situation to a safe environment.
“We invest deeply in people’s needs because we believe it’s time for the church to leave the building and become actively involved in sharing Jesus’ love in the community,” said Restore Church founding Pastor Ron Klabunde. Restore actively works with area non-profits to learn about local needs and help raise awareness and support to meet those needs. “At Restore we believe that generosity is a way of life,” said Klabunde.
