Sterling Giant Re-Opening

Giant Food is celebrating the re-opening of a renovated Sterling, VA store with a week full of events and activities including a ribbon cutting ceremony with Virginia State Senator Mark Herring, Virginia State Delegate David Poisson and Loudoun County Supervisor (Potomac District) Andrea McGimsey, complimentary snacks and gifts, tastings and entertainment beginning on Friday, August 7, 2009. The re-opening of the store at 20961 Southbank Street is part of Giant’s three-year Project Refresh investment plan to re-model or replace some 100 Giant stores throughout the Maryland, D.C., Northern Virginia and Delaware region.

Re-opening activities at the store on Friday, August 7, 2009 include:

· 6:00 a.m.: First 250 customers receive a $10 Giant gift card.

· 8:00 a.m.: Ribbon cutting ceremony with Virginia State Senator Mark Herring, Virginia State Delegate David Poisson and Loudoun County Supervisor (Potomac District) Andrea McGimsey, to officially re-open the store.

· 11:00 a.m.: Raffles for special Giant brand gift bags begin.

· 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.: Giant Passports available for customers to explore the store, have their passports stamped along the way and receive free reusable Giant shopping bags.

· 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.: Tasting events will take place under tents in the parking lot where a D.J. will entertain customers- creating a Giant block party.

· New Taste of Giant Program: Happening daily, Taste of Giant offers customers new ways to use every day items and opportunity to taste new foods before preparing them at home. At each tasting event, associates share product knowledge, preparation information and serving suggestions, giving customers new answers to the age old question "What's for dinner?"

Activities continue throughout the weekend and following week, including:

· Daily, 11:00 a.m.: Raffles for special Giant brand gift bags.

· Daily, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Giant Passport program.

· Saturday, August 8, 2009, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: DJ music for customers during Passport program.

· Saturday, August 8, 2009, starting at 11:00 a.m.: M&M character handing out samples.

· Saturday, August 8, 2009, 5:00 p.m.: Oven-fresh cookies distributed to first 100 customers.

· Sunday, August 9, 2009, 11:00 a.m.: Live jazz to entertain shoppers.

· Sunday, August 10, 2009, 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Giant Passport Program

· Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.: Cookie decorating for children.

· Tuesday, August 11, 2009, 5:00 p.m.: Edy’s Dibs Snack bags distributed to first 100 customers.

· Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.: Free blood pressure and total cholesterol screening at the pharmacy.

· Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 5:00 p.m.: First 100 customers receive a free Giant reusable bag.

· Thursday, August 13, 2009, 5:00 p.m.: First 100 customers receive Nature’s Promise ready-to-drink Tea.

Shoppers at the renovated Sterling Giant store will discover new time-saving, convenient tools including Scan It! hand-held devices allowing customers to scan and bag their groceries while they shop, and ORDER IT! – Giant’s “Delivision” digital kiosk – which allows customers to place orders digitally and continue shopping, then sends an alert when the order is ready.

Wegmans is still better. I drive the extra four miles to shop there.

The employees need a "facelift" themselves...I don't shop there because of really poor attitudes. Wegman's is absolutely much better!!!
