UPDATE at 8:39 p.m. on May 14: A representative from Billy Casper Golf called me today with a correction to the information they had provided yesterday. The nine-hole course will not open tomorrow as previously stated, but around Memorial Day weekend, said Nick Lashinsky, spokesman for the organization. The driving range, however, will still open tomorrow as scheduled.
UPDATE at 12:32 p.m. on May 13: Just got off the phone with Rich Katz, Billy Casper Golf's senior vice president. Beginning Friday, the nine-hole course of the 1757 Golf Club will be open for play in addition to the driving ranges.

The cost for nine holes with a cart, seven days a week, is $39; For 18-holes (playing the nine-hole course, twice) with a cart, the fee is $59 Mon.-Fri.; and $65 on Sat., Sun, and holidays. For the driving range, a small bucket of balls is $7; a large bucket is $12.
I asked Katz how Donald Trump's recent acquisition and refurbishing of the Lowe's Island Golf Club (now Trump National) will affect business. Katz was quick to note that Trump's golf club is exclusively private, but he added: "Our philosophy is the more outstanding golf in the county, the better."
ORIGINAL POST: Looks like the golf clubs will be swinging again soon at the defunct Presidential Golf Club on Waxpool Road in Ashburn.
The Presidential Golf Course in March 2008 (Photo by Richard A. Lipski)The facility, renamed the 1757 Golf Club after the year Loudoun was founded, is under new management: Billy Casper Golf, the nation's fourth largest golf-course owner and operator, is now at the helm.
For those of us who couldn't even fathom spending the $60,000 membership fee that the Presidential Golf Club was charging, the 1757 Golf Club will be open to the general public.
"Billy Casper Golf will introduce 1757 Golf Club as a daily-fee course with premium golf experiences at price points slightly below market," said Peter Hill, chairman and CEO of BCG.
The 18-hole course and 16,000-square-foot clubhouse is scheduled to open in spring 2010, executives said.
But the driving range, complete with 76 hitting stations with some lit for night play, will open this Friday. PGA instruction will also be available later this month, Hill said, in addition to some portions of the clubhouse.

It's true, there really is a Golf God.
Sometimes the Golf God helps you lose your ball, but other times the Golf God opens a public course two miles from your house.

Excellent news, I work right behind the part of the course under construction, many of us thought this would be the eventual outcome, looking forward to playing the course.
