Farewell, LoCo Readers

Today, LoCo readers, is my last blog posting here at LoudounExtra.com. I've decided it's time to step away from my keyboard.
It's been almost two years since I composed my first Living in LoCo blog item for this space under the tutelage of the orginal LIL blogger, Tammi Marcoullier. After her departure in December 2007, I began updating the column each weekday. Highlights of the blog appeared in the Washington Post's Sunday print insert of LoudounExtra.
Since I've been blogging here, it's truly been one LoCo (yes, crazy!) adventure after another: be it covering a contentious county-wide hospital battle, digging into the details of annoying roadway problems, exploring the controversies surrounding a school library book, interviewing rapt voters in an historic election, reporting on neighbors helping neighbors, and even, sadly, following up on local tragedies.
Along the way, I've met a slew of amazing people, most of whom call Loudoun home, of course. But I'd be remiss not to give a shout-out to the many hardworking men and women I've come across who don't live here but travel to Loudoun each day to earn a paycheck: the many government and agency workers, law enforcement officers and school employees who serve us, the residents.
And thank you, dear readers. You have taken the time to share your opinions, joys and grievances with me (not to mention the oft-juicy story leads!). Because of your e-mailed tips, calls and board comments, Living in LoCo has become a bellwether of what's really on the minds of Loudouners.
I'd also like to thank my editor Amy L. Kovac, the site's producer Meghan Louttit and the folks at the Leesburg bureau for their advice, insight and support.
LoCo, I'm not good at farewells. So instead, I'll just say, "See you later." There's an awfully good chance we'll bump into each other at the grocery store, a sporting event, the community swimming pool or even at the county fair.
That's just how it is here.
Until then, I'm still . . . Living in LoCo.

Thank you Erica for all of your work with this blog. I am a regular reader and always enjoyed getting the latest info on things happening in Loudoun County.

I've enjoyed your blog! I especially have enjoyed the light-hearted stories you've done. My biggest thanks to you, though, is all the work you did keeping up with the Lenah school site situation. When it all started I really didn't know where to go for information but I found your blog. From that time I have learned ALOT. Thank you for informing us!

Erica, you are truly a class act! You filled some big shoes when you took over LoCo and you never missed a beat. LoCo is better off now than it was when you started. Nooooooo! This is truly sad news. You've done an incredible job and made the site so much more enjoyable. You have a special knack for conveying newsworthy items in a very personal, "like a friend" kind of way.

The name "LoCo" stinks. Can you just call it "Loudoun County"? LoCo sounds like "Loco", meaning "Crazy" in Spanish.
