Get ready for summer reading!

After a two-year hiatus, which was caused by a lack of storage space, the Loudoun Library Foundation is holding it's 20th annual used book sale June 26-28 at Smart's Mill Middle School in Leesburg.

Proceeds from the giant sale support many of the county's public library programs, said foundation president Beth Leetch, including the children's summer reading program and Books for Babies, a service that presents a brand new picture book to parents of Loudoun newborns.

Past Loudoun Library Foundation book sales have brought in at least $40,000 for the organization, she said, which is quite a feat considering that most books at the sale are priced at 50 cents or a dollar. In addition to books, there will also be CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and computer software for sale.

Volunteers have been collecting items for the sale in a Sterling warehouse since January. "And we're especially thankful for Supervisor Stevens Miller's (D-Dulles) help in securing county space for the project," Leetch added.

Hours of the June 26-28 book sale are Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Event parking is free, said Leetch, and cash and checks will be accepted for payment.
