As I was driving my children home from school and turned the corner of Truro Parish and Chickacoan Trail Drive in Broadlands, my mouth dropped open at the sight of the newly installed Dunkin’ Donuts-Baskin Robbins signs on the building that will someday house the popular eatery.

(Insert happy dance here.)
Broadlands residents and those in surrounding Brambleton and Ashburn communities have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of DD/BR for over three years. We’ve been teased and let down several times with opening dates that came and went. Check out these online threads of anticipation at the Broadlands community forum and the Brambletonian.
No word from the franchisee about when the store will actually open, but signs on the building are a good indicator that yummy donuts, delicious coffee and ice cream cones are coming soon! Right?
After pressing my face to the glass to get a better look, it appears that the menu above the ordering counter has been installed, too, and coffee makers have been positioned by the — get this — drive-thru window! Oh joy of joys!
The other side of the building will house an eatery as well, I’ve been told, but as of now, it’s an empty shell. Click comments below and tell us what you’d like to see go in that adjacent space. A deli? A bakery? What are you craving these days?

Erica,
This is so timely. My kids and I drove past the building the other day and wondered if Dunkin would be coming after all. There was no sign at that time. We used to live in Ashburn and we wanted them to open while we lived there, but alas, they did not. Everytime we go to Ashburn, my daughter laments that all the good stuff (fuddruckers, IHOP, etc) opened after we moved South! When we moved to Ashburn, there was only a Giant in Ashburn Village. Things have really changed in a few short years!

Oh, but there is joy in the South Dulles area, also, Momof2. Next to the Giant in South Riding, in the location of the former Caribou Coffee, there is a sign that Fractured Prune Doughnuts (Donuts??? How do they spell it?) will be opening soon!

You're right, octamatilda! I wonder when they will open. Sounds like a delicious addition to the area food offerings.

HCA should have waited a while longer to submit their proposal. After a year of donuts in Broadlands they would have had all the patients they needed.

By that logic, we'll need a facility in Dulles South because we are getting the Fractured Prune!

Yes, the donut engineers at Fractured Prune tell me they're shooting for a March opening for their South Riding and Leesburg stores. If you're in the Dulles South area, check out the FP on Overland Drive for hot-baked goodness. :)

Now, all we need is a Barnes & Noble in this county!

Donuts or doughnuts?

Erica, Thanks for the update on the Fractured Prune. It's a shame to see stores unoccupied.
Barnes & Noble would be great, too...

It's nice to see businesses opening these days.

Dunkin' Donuts used to be so much better back in the 90's... but they're still well above Krispy Kreme (yuck).

DO you think if we PROTEST ENOUGH, the Board of Supervisors will vote it down and they will move to Route 50 instead?
(Sorry I couldn't resist)

Maybe if we protest enough, we will get the Summer Music Fest to move down to Rt 50!! (Just kidding, :) )!
I suspect that the Dunkin Donuts location is an "over"done deal - (Couldn't resist, haha)

I'm not going to believe it until I see actual donuts coming out of that building! :-)

Finally! DD's drip coffee is so much much better than Starbuck's burnt crap.

Could we get a Whole Foods instead?
