Sometime over the weekend a large banner promoting the Loudoun Summer Music Fest was vandalized. The sign, which was visible to traffic on Route 7 near Belmont Country Club where the outdoor concerts take place, was estimated at $5,600, said Tracey Parent, president of the Loudoun Foundation and organizer of the event.
“The sign was spray-painted. It was then knocked down -- maybe by the wind. That part’s unclear right now,” she said.
Parent plans to step up security at the site of the music venue to discourage future vandals. The sheriff’s office has also promised to patrol the area more frequently.
“We’re coming up with a plan to prevent this from happening again,” Parent said, “And we will prosecute whoever is responsible for this damage.”
If you have any information regarding this crime, contact the sheriff’s office at 703-777-1021. To remain anonymous, call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919.
This vandalism won’t stop the music, Parent said. The first concert of this season’s Loudoun Summer Music Fest will be Smash Mouth -- performing Sunday, May 18.
