Park View Grad Wins Reporting Gig at GOP Convention

In a press conference on Capital Hill this afternoon, SiTV and Voto Latino will announce the winners of the Crash the Parties '08 contest.

The Republican winner who garnered the most online votes and passed the scrutiny of the panel of judges is Sterling's own, Michael Monrroy, who Living In LoCo featured here.

Also at today's event will be panel judges actress Rosario Dawson, CNN anchor Rick Sanchez and civil rights leader Raul Yzaguirre.

Monrroy, a Park View High grad, is the son of Latino immigrants from Columbia and Bolivia. He's the first in his family to attend college—he's studying political science at American University. Monrroy aspires to one day be a U.S. senator.

As the winner, Monrroy gets to be an embedded reporter for SiTV at the Republican National Convention, which will take place Sept. 1-4 in St. Paul, Minn.
