UPDATE: Shortly before 4 p.m. today the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office released the name of the man who was taken into custody after an early morning barricade situation in Brambleton. Craig R. Jones, 26, was charged with assault and destroying a telephone to prevent a victim from summoning law enforcement and is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The Sheriff's Office said that more charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.

Shortly after 8 a.m., the man, a D.C. resident, was taken into custody. He will be charged with abduction, possession of a gun by a convicted felon and assault, Troxell said.
At the scene this morning (I arrived after all the action), I saw a county animal control van. Troxell told me that the suspect brought his pit bull to the residence this morning, so animal control was there to secure the dog.
The name and photo of the suspect have not yet been released.
As I left the scene this morning, people were returning to their normal routines: walking the dog, grocery shopping and picking up a cup of joe from Caribou Coffee.
