VOTE! It's Election Day

Tammi Marcoullier at 7:00 a.m., November 6, 2007 (13 comments)

Good morning Loudoun!

The pre-election battles have been raging for weeks and today is the day we find out where this county stands. Today's votes will determine what the majority of people think of the state of Loudoun politics and where we, as voters, determine it will go next.

The smell of desperation in some races has been clear from recent mailings, robo-calls, accusatory photos, letters from company owners defending their relationships with candidates, the deluge of (illegally placed) campaign signs, finger pointing and huff-puff-puffing either in accusation or defense.

Even the number of comments in this blog has expanded exponentially from political operatives, supporters and detractors of certain candidates as they take each other on.

I will be updating this space with notes throughout the day to include a look into the polling places around the county and comments from voters on the scene.

If you would like to share your thoughts about today's voting and your predictions for the outcome, place them in comments below, or email me at livinginloco-at-wpni-dot-com. For those who email, please include your full name, voting district and a phone number where I can reach you.

I think it is pretty certain that York will take the day for Chair. I would watch Miller - Snow closely. It is either a blowout for Miller of it will be a seesaw battle between Dulles South and Dulles North. I suspect the former.

If voters want honesty in government, real solutions for transportation, real efforts at bringing in Fortune 500 companies to Loudoun to reduce the pressure on residential assessments, then they will vote for Firetti. York has had 16 years, and the last few have been particularly "good" for him, employed by a developer with a six figure salary, remapping his employers' land in a CPAM (he opposes CPAMS, except his employers) to residential, getting special exception uses on his employers property in Ashburn without public hearings, lots of fast tracking, improper meetings, illegal agreements...pressuring staff,,,
York has tried every trick to deceive the voters, and he is an entrenched insider with lots of power, who blocks FOIA requests, sequesters FOIA'd files, operates government in secrecy,,,
Give the power back to the people! VOTE for real solutions, honest and open government! real business coming to Loudoun, reduced assessments! VOTE for FIRETTI!

I'll be glad when this election is over. Then my neighbor with six signs in his yard (all Democrats, natch) can take them down and remove the annual eyesore.

We finally have a chance to get Delgaudio out of power. He has accepted over $100,000 from developers and speaks negatively of Sterling (and therefore his constituents) every chance he gets. Sterling is not better off today than it was when Delgaudio was elected8 years ago, so voters should put business-woman and 34-year Sterling resident Jeanne West in office to represent our community.

If the Deomcrats do as well as I think they will than even if Delgaudio wins he will be limited to nothing more than a theatrical embarrassment to the County.
But let's hope that Sterling Park wants sane, rational representation and was not won over by Delgauidio and Help Save Loudoun's hateful hysteria.

As much as I'm looking forward to a supervisor who doesn't make me ashamed to say I'm from Sterling, it's the obnoxious day-glo orange signs littering the entire entire district (and well beyond) that I'm really looking forward to seeing go away. To say nothing of the junk mail -- at least one piece of Delgaudio mail a day for the past two weeks, with no less than FIVE yesterday (including an impressively over-the-top letter purporting to be from his wife). Not to mention the door hangers, the phone calls and the knocks on the door at all hours of the day (despite a West sign in my yard). It's amazing what nearly $150k of out-of-county money can buy...

Sally conspiracy???

I believe in the following things that prevent me from believing in this said conspiracy:

1) The existence of BigFoot, The Loch Ness Monster and Chuppacabras.

2) The Illuminati, Bildenberg, The Free Masons and the Knights Templar.

3) UFO's, Aliens (other than the illegal kind, cow mutilations and crop circles.

Soo....there just CAN'T be a conspiracy against Sally!
