Middleburg Bank Goes Green
Leesburg Tomorrow blogger notes that the Middleburg Bank has been recognized by the Leesburg Town Council as the first building in Leesburg to be LEED Certified. The blogger quotes from the Middleburg Bank’s Press Release: “In an effort to be more environmentally responsible, Middleburg Bank has designed it latest branch–and will build all future buildings–for certification by the United States Green Building Council’s LEED program.”

“The LEED system uses points to rate a building’s energy efficiency and overall impact on the environment. The Fort Evans Branch is striving for the Gold Standard as established by the USGBC, although it appears the office will receive 38 points, which is one short of the Gold Standard.”

Working Phones
Sterling’s Good Shepherd Alliance Thrift Store blogger, Mary, happily reports that the store phones are again in working order. “If anyone has tried calling the store in Sterling, you know you couldn't get through,” she writes. “Well, finally the Folks at Verizon decided they did own the line and where able to fix it properly this time. It's a long drawn out story involving our Director of Operations spending many, many hours on the phone with Verizon. But for right now they seem to be working. Keep your fingers crossed. Now I need all your prayers that they are truly fixed.”
