Inova's Anti-HCA Ads
The recent announcement by the FTC that they were going to block Inova Loudoun's acquisition of Prince William Health System, which Living in LocCo blogger Erica Garman broke Friday, has brought stronger scrutiny over the Loudoun County hospital.
Blogger Ric James over at Hoodathunk? has a related post about the numerous ads Inova has been placing in area publications denouncing HCA's application for the Broadlands Regional Medical Center. "This week brought in 2 new ads in local newspapers from Inova Loudoun Hospital apparently really trying to tighten up the thumbscrews on Loudoun’s Board," he writes. "...The critical issue in needing a new hospital is whether the population density in a given area warrants it and can support it. What is Inova driving at with this ad?"
Powerful Storm Rips Through Region
The big issue affecting everyone's day today is the flooding that is occurring throughout Loudoun and the D.C. metro area. The Washington Post reports today on how that weather has affected the metro area, including northern Virginia. Traffic Needs Ignored
Blogger Paradox13VA at Leesburg Tomorrow posted over the weekend about how Loudoun's traffic problems are being shortchanged by the State in favor of projects like the Rail to Reston and Rail to Dulles, which don't directly help Loudoun's issues. "We can have debates over settlement patterns and road widening, but the fact remains that our current road network is being used above capacity, and there is no indication that demand for roads is going to decline," he writes. "It is clear that Richmond is not going to fix the problems we've had with transportation funding since 2002 without more changes in who is in charge in the Assembly."
