Purcellville Results a 'Step Backwards'
Over at Leesburg Tomorrow, blogger Paradox13VA writes about how he is less than thrilled with the results of the Purcellville mayoral election. "The residents of Purcellville will continue to pay Town taxes to fight against the high school in court, and County taxes to fight for the high school in court, in one of the most bizzare wastes of money in the history of local fiscal management," he writes. "We need more schools, we need better management of land and planning." The blog also has an analysis of Leesburg election results.

Local Graduation Speakers
Blogger John Stevens at Our Loudoun Schools reveals this year's list of graduation speakers for local high schools. Stevens writes that he plans to attend several of these events, and calls the list, which includes Brett Fuller, chaplain of the Washington Redskins; Steve Coll, CEO of The New America Foundation; and Congressman Frank Wolf of Virginia's 10th district, "a very interesting group."

Fortress Technologies Inc. Expanding to Lansdowne
The Washington Business Journal reports today that Fortress Technologies, which provides secure wireless and other professional services to government agencies, including the U.S. military, will be opening an office in Lansdowne. This is the Florida-based company's first move into the area.

Neighboring Elections
Blogger Ric James over at Hoodathunk! writes that while Loudoun County's election results are important, residents should also pay attention to the results of Herndon's elections, which, he writes, "is of interest to those of us here. In their last election, Herndon citizens tossed out nearly every incumbent and elected a slate of candidates who pledged to do something about the rampant illegal 'immigrant' problem that city had developed." More information about Herndon election results on the post.

Survey Says Less Than 5% Care About Environment
Loudoun County's annual county-wide survey seems to show that only 4.8 percent of Loudoun residents are concerned about the environment. Greener Loudoun, which has more information about the survey, questions the accuracy of these results. "I don’t think the survey provides a true picture and I fear our County leaders use this kind of flawed data for decision-making."
