Playground Equipment Needed
School board member Tom Reed has a post on his blog about the soon-to-be opened Liberty Elementary and its need for playground equipment. "Because playground equipment isn't curriculum related, the school system cannot purchase it," he wrote.
Cell Phone Towers
Blogger Loudoun Insider has posted some thoughts on the controversial proposals to erect cell phone towers in western Loudoun. "I simply don’t get the hysteria from some of the preservationist types over cell towers," he wrote. "… So many of the new supervisors touted more telecommuting as a way to reduce road trips, but then voted against a reasonable plan that would make that infinitely more possible."
Real Estate Market
Real estate bloggers Danilo and Tony have posted some thoughts on why so many homes – 2 out of every 3, according to their calculations – never sell. "This business model is extremely flawed and leads to a glut of homes, mislead sellers, and a gaming of the system by agents not truly representing their clients," they wrote. "And the brokers and brokerages encourage the 'sign in the ground at any cost' attitude of these agents."
LCPS Census
Blogger Ric James has some reaction to a recent story from Leesburg Today about the Loudoun County Public Schools census. The blogger speculates that response has slowed because the questions are too "overreaching and suspicious." He wrote: "There was plenty there about how important it was to respond and that accurate responses would result in more tax money coming to Loudoun, but there was nothing in that letter to explain how knowing how many bedrooms a respondent’s house had or whether the family owned a computer would aid in that result."
Friday Car Wreck
The Loudoun Times-Mirror has posted a photo of a pickup truck that turned on its side after the driver lost control of it Friday in Leesburg.
