Progress on New Western Loudoun School
Town of Lovettsville officials had a "good" meeting with county supervisors Jim Burton and Sally Kurtz during which they discussed specifics about several of the proposed school sites north of Route 9, according to this article from Leesburg Today.

Real Estate Numbers are Down
Real estate bloggers Danilo and Tony are reporting that real estate numbers are down in Loudoun County. Comparing the numbers from this past December to the same month in 2006, they wrote: "Units Sold is down almost 33%. Sales prices can be looked at any number of ways but they all point to a drop of 15% to 18% for Loudoun County."

Vacant Leesburg Council Seat Filled
David Schmidt has been appointed to take over the Leesburg Town Council seat vacated by Kelly Burk, according to this article from LoudounExtra.com. Schmidt served on the council from 2000 to 2004.

Upcoming Elections
Town of Leesburg elections will take place May 6. Blogger ParadoxVA13 has pointed out that there will be four elections held in Leesburg next year. "With all of these elections, it is likely that turnout in each will suffer until the General in November. That's pretty ironic considering the fact that our Congressperson and Town Council have a much larger impact on our lives than the President," he wrote.

New Board and Immigration
Blogger Ric James over at HoodaThunk? has posted some thoughts after the first meeting of the new Board of Supervisors Thursday. The blogger is disgruntled over some of the supervisors' stances on immigration. "After all the tough talk during the campaigns for the Board of Supervisor seats here in Loudoun, the Democrats who were elected to office have decided that 'it’s a waste of money for counties to enforce federal immigration laws,'" he wrote, quoting an article from WTOP. "Funny to hear that, considering the stances taken by these same Democrats when they were campaigning." LoudounExtra.com has more details on Thursday's meeting during which the county's highly publicized crackdown on illegal immigration was discussed in this story.
