Builders Leaving LoCo
Real estate blogger Danilo over at Loudoun Stats is reporting that Equity Homes and Basheer & Edgemoore, like KB Homes, is pulling out of Loudoun County. He points to Heather Elias's blog on Loudoun real estate, who writes: "Basheer & Edgemoore, a luxury home builder working on a community called Park Meadows just outside of Leesburg, is now selling 3 to 9 acre lots within the community from $325,000. I'm not sure how many finished homes they have there, but they were certainly billing it as an exclusive community (only 17 home sites) when they started marketing it."
Loudoun Sports
Dave Scarangella over at DullesDistrict.com writes about a recent exchange on Comcast SportsNet's "Washington Post Live" between Washington Post reporters Paul Tenorio and Mike Wise. Wise had made some comments about Philadelphia hockey. "Apparently, Loudoun County is the REAL danger zone," he wrote. "... forget Philly. Loudoun County's where you really need to be careful."
Dishing on the Dems' Dinner
Blogger Paradox13VA has a post on his blog, Leesburg Tomorrow, about Friday's Jefferson-Jackson dinner. "The turnout was incredible, and our governors (Warner and Kaine) gave stirring speeches about the mission of Democrats in 2008 and beyond," he wrote. "...We've come a long way in Loudoun County (a point which each speaker repeated) and we have just as much work to do to keep our majority and keep Loudoun on the right track."
Inova vs. HCA
Blogger Ric James over at HoodaThunk? has a post about the hospital controversy in Loudoun and a recent newspaper ad from Inova. "Enough bickering: HCA should be permitted to build their hospital in the Broadlands location identified. The State Commission agreed years ago that we needed another Hospital. Everything to now has been delaying actions that have made that situation worse. Get on with it. Approve the application and get that project started," he wrote.
Restaurant Review: Tuscarora Mill
Holly over at Ashburn Reviews enjoyed a recent meal at Tuscarora Mill in Leesburg. "25 or so minutes later though, once we were seated, I am glad to report, the food was good, as was the service, and the atmosphere. The restaurant is set in a restored grain mill - it is a pretty place. The meal we had was top notch. The top best things I think were the appetizers and the desserts," she wrote.
