Blogger Dave Scarangella has posted some reflection on the anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings. "One year later, a lot of healing has taken place. There's still a long way to go. But we're going to be OK," he wrote.
Homes are Selling in Ashburn
Jonathan Bunn over at The Real Estate Bakery reports that townhomes in Farmwell Hunt are, in fact, selling. "If you haven’t noticed from driving around lately there are UNDER CONTRACT signs everywhere! Homes around the 400k range and below are selling quickly thanks to great rates being offered through FHA financing," he wrote.
2 Loudoun Students Tops in State Geography Bee
Christopher Miller, a seventh-grade student at Blue Ridge Middle School, and Matias Sur, an eighth-grader at St. Theresa School in Ashburn, won first and second place at the Virginia Geography Bee. The Loudoun Times-Mirror has the story. Miller will represent Virginia at the National Geographic Bee in Washington in May.
Builder Pulls Out of Loudoun Communities
Real estate blogger Danilo reports that KB Homes is pulling out of Martin's Chase community – as well as other areas throughout the mid-Atlantic region – due to the slow market. "KB Homes said the move will help it hold on to cash reserves and ride out the housing crash," he wrote.
Review: Yen's Café
Holly over at Ashburn Reviews writes that she likes the newly opened Yen's Café at the Shoppes at Ryan Park. " I am thrilled to tell you about this new jewel - they opened just a week ago," she wrote. "We had a good time at Yen's. I hope that they are able to keep up its quality. You could really see the care that they put into picking out the drinks, food, wait staff and decor. We shall return."
