Purcellville School Case
Update: A judge has granted a delay in the Purcellville school case. The Loudoun Times-Mirror and Leesburg Today both have the story.
School Board Meetings
Local blogger and school board member John Stevens is suggesting a revised format for school board meetings. Instead of holding them at the administration building, he wants them to rotate among the county's high schools. "There are other Virginia School Boards that do this with great results," he wrote. "While we'll be pushing Board members and senior staff out of our comfort zone at the Admin building, I think that the benefits outweigh the potential inconveniences."
Leesburg Firehouse
The Leesburg Town Council will hear an appeal Tuesday night filed by nearby residents of a planned fire station in downtown Leesburg, according to this story from Leesburg Today.
Loudoun County Republican Committee Meeting
Blogger Ric James over at HoodaThunk? has a good wrap-up of last night's meeting of the Loudoun County Republican Committee. He noted, as was reported on LoudounExtra.com yesterday, that Chairman Paul Protic is not seeking another term. Among other observations from the meeting, he sums up how the LCRC needs to have a conversation about growth. "Growth, you see, is going to be one of those things we all need to have a real discussion about," he wrote. "…We’ve yelled past each other, but we haven’t really discussed."
Over at Leesburg Tomorrow, blogger ParadoxVA13 shares some thoughts on Protic stepping down. "With Loudoun trending blue, the fate of Virginia for the Republicans may be in the hands of a few hundred local partisans meeting in March," he wrote. He also has some information about a loyalty oath the GOP is requiring voters to sign. The oath says that those who vote in the Republican primary must support its eventual nominee.
Remembering Sean Taylor
Loudoun Insider over at Too Conservative has some thoughts on the death of Redskins safety Sean Taylor in Miami. "Something tells me when they find the scumbag who did this, he’ll have quite the lengthy rap sheet," he wrote. "We are still far too lenient on violent criminals in this country." Taylor died early today from a gunshot wound he suffered Monday in his suburban Miami home.
Writing the Book on Adoption
The Loudoun Easterner has a story about an Ashburn mom who wrote a book about adoption. The book, "Guess Who's Adopted," is full of information about celebrities who were adopted.
The Loudoun Moms Network has some positive feedback on the article, writing, "What a great way to inspire a young child and celebrate adoption. With the holidays rapidly approaching, this looks like it would be a home-run of a gift for that special family who has recently adopted."
