The Loudoun Valley baseball team placed eight players on the Cedar Run All District teams as selected by the district coaches this past week.

Kevin Rinek (Sr.) – 2nd Team SP
TJ Daeschner (Sr.) – 2nd Team Util
Iain Mottice (Sr.) – 2nd Team 2B
Matt Reed (Fr.) – 2nd Team OF
Beattie Southerland (Jr.) – 2nd Team 1B
Alex Owens (Jr.) – Honorable Mention 3B
Daniel Fleming (Jr.) – Honorable Mention SS

Senior catcher Wes Walker was the lone Viking to be selected to the first team. Senior pitcher Kevin Rinek, senior utility player TJ Daeschner, senior second baseman Iain Mottice, junior first baseman Beattie Southerland, and freshman outfielder Matt Reed were named to the second team. Junior third baseman Alex Owens and junior shortstop Daniel Fleming were named honorable mention. The entire infield for Loudoun Valley received recognition.

Despite a tough loss to Battlefield High School in the Cedar Run District championship last Thursday night, the Vikings had reeled off twelve straight wins finishing the 2009 season with a record of 15-8. The Vikings return eleven players and with a junior varsity team that went 17-3 will look to contend again next spring.
