Freedom Promotes Freshman Boys Bball Coach to Varsity

Freedom High School announced today that Derek Gaunt has been named the new head varsity boys' basketball coach. Gaunt has served as the boys' freshman coach since 2007 and replaces Kevin Weeren, who resigned following the 2008-09 season. The Eagles were 6-16 last winter and had a 2-12 mark in the Dulles District.

The Freedom High School athletic department announces the hiring of Derek Gaunt as head varsity boys basketball coach. Coach Gaunt has served as the freshman boys basketball since 2007 and is employed by the city of Alexandria Police Department. The Freedom boys basketball program opens the 2009-2010 season at Brentsville District High School on December 2, 2009. The Freedom boys basketball summer camp is scheduled for July 20-24 and is operated by Loudoun County Parks and Recreation Services. Information is available on the Loudoun County Parks and Recreation website.
