Former Broad Run lacrosse player Evan Morgan was named a team captain for the 2009-2010 season at Sacred Heart University yesterday. A rising senior attacker for the Pioneers, Morgan graduated from Broad Run in 2006 after helping to lead the Spartans to their first Region II title in school history. Morgan becomes the first Loudoun lacrosse player to be named captain at a Division I program.
Here's an excerpt from the press release on the Pioneers' site:
"Morgan has been a mainstay on the attack for the Pioneers for three straight seasons. He played in every game this year, starting all but one. He finished the season with 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 total points, good for third most on the team. His consistent play has seen him tally 24, 23, and 24 points in his three seasons. Ridge and Brink have both been key cogs in SHU's defensive midfield and backfield. Both players appeared in every game this season."
(we'll excuse the misspelling of Ashburn in the lead...)
