Former Broad Run catcher Tommy Meier, a 2008 graduate and key player on the Spartans' 2008 district title team, recently signed on to play baseball at the University of Virginia at Wise. He spent last year redshirting at West Virginia University.

Here's the press release from the UVa-Wise site:
After redshirting last year at West Virginia University, Tommy Meier will have all four years to be a talented catcher for UVa-Wise. The Broad Run High grad will bring his all-around talent potential to the Highland Cavaliers.
Meier was the starting catcher for the 2007 and 2008 Dulles District Champion Broad Run High School teams. In 2008, Tommy led the team to a school record 21 win season. As a senior, he .435 in the clean-up spot for the Spartans with only one strikeout all season. Defensively, Meier threw out 45 percent of would be base stealers on his way to being named team defensive MVP and All-Dulles District acclaim.
Tommy Meier is expected to compete for quality innings behind the plate in his first year at UVa-Wise.
