Pat McNanley, the Eagles' head wrestling coach and assistant football and track coach will join newly promoted Athletic Director Matt Oblas as Freedom's assistant athletic director this year.
Here's the press release:
Freedom High School is excited to introduce Pat McNanley as Assistant Athletic Director. Pat has been a vital part of the Freedom athletic department since the school's opening in 2005, serving as the head wrestling coach, assistant football coach, track coach, and tournament director of the Freedom Duals Wrestling Tournament. He has been employed as a Physical Education teacher at Arcola Elementary since 2007. Pat will officially begin his duties as Assistant Athletic Director on August 3, 2009.
Oblas, who formerly held the assistant position, was promoted to Athletic Director last month after the departure of former AD Rusty Lowery, who took the same job at Woodgrove High School.
The hire continues a busy summer for the Eagles athletic department which recently named former freshman basketball coach Derek Gaunt the new varsity head coach, hired a new football head coach earlier this year in former Park View assistant Mick Mullins, and is looking to replace former baseball coach Chris Bourassa who stepped down after the spring season.
