Freedom's Weeren Resigns

Freedom basketball coach Kevin Weeren resigned today, Eagles athletic director Rusty Lowery announced.

Weeren resigned following two season as head coach, during which time the Eagles went 11-34.

Following is the news release:

South Riding, VA. Freedom High School is sad to announce that head varsity boys basketball coach, Kevin Weeren, announced his resignation on Tuesday, April 14. Kevin has served as Freedom High School's head basketball coach during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons. Weeren resigns from basketball, but will remain a guidance counselor at Mercer Middle School. In addition to his basketball coaching position at Freedom, Kevin previously was a head coach at George C. Marshall High School in Fairfax County for 8 years. He was also an assistant basketball coach at Langley, Paul VI, and Marymount University. The Freedom Athletic Department thanks Kevin for his service to the basketball program and school community.
