Welcome back to the Thursday Throwdown where Paul and I duke it out each week over hot topics in Loudoun football. This week we'll play the odds with a few "Which is More Likely" matchups dealing with several scenarios pertaining to the season's final two weeks and the playoffs. As always, Tenorio will take one side of the argument and I'll take the other. To decide who argues what, we went old-fashioned and flipped a coin. After we've covered each topic, we'll give you a chance to cast your ballot in the poll. (Speaking of ballots, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE PEOPLE! We're not just about sports here at Extra Points.) Welcome back to Tuesday's Top Performers! We had some dominant performances on the ground this week with several teams rushes for more than 200 yards. Briar Woods senior Ray Taliaferro went over 200 by himself in a three-touchdown performance against Heritage, Broad Run's Breon Earl and T.J. Peeler both had multiple rushing touchdowns and Stone Bridge's Michael Prince had his second straight three-touchdown game. Not all these guys could make the ranks of the Week 9 Top Performers, but we're going to give as much recognition as we can. And Tenorio's win last week proved to be more of a fluke than the start of a comeback as Brooks continued his season-long dominance with another victory. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Tenorio is worse-off than the Bengals - he's mathematically eliminated from championship contention. Better luck next year, bud. If it's Monday, and it's after noon, it must be time for the Monday (Afternoon) Quarterback! Over the weekend we saw Broad Run really separate themselves from the rest of the Dulles District with a dominant win against Potomac Falls, Briar Woods get a big victory against Heritage, Park View and Loudoun County each get back on track and Stone Bridge drop 70 on Jefferson. Today we'll take a look at three key notes from each of Friday's contests. Read full entry and discussion »

Welcome back to the Thursday Throwdown where Paul and I duke it out each week over hot topics in Loudoun football. With the potential Dulles District championship game on tap for tomorrow night in Ashburn, we'll play a little "who you got?" today with some of the key participants in that matchup between Potomac Falls and Broad Run. Paul will take the Panthers and I'll argue on behalf of the Spartans. Be sure to give us your take by answering the poll questions and let us hear your rationale in the comments section below. We both expect this to be a great game and there's a good chance several of the guys listed below will play a key role in who ends up on top. Let's throwdown! Read full entry and discussion »
It's time again for the Loudoun County Top Five Power Poll. We've got the same standings again this week with all five teams winning their district matchups on Friday night. That said, we've got two huge matchups between Nos. 2 and 3 and Nos. 4 and 5 this week so expect a shake up this time next week. Today we're pulling out our abacuses and calculators to take a look at each team 'by the numbers.' We'll hit two key statistics and discuss how they've impacted the success of each team so far this season. Read full entry and discussion »
Welcome back to Top Performers. After weeks of doing hit best Detroit Lions impersonation (Tenorio once voted for Matt Millen as GM of the year), Tenorio got back in the win column this week with a very narrow 4-3 victory. Fortunately for me, the 15-point lead I had coming into Week 8 was a nice enough cushion that I don't have to worry about him creeping up on me just yet. We had some great individual performances on Friday night, particularly in the backfield where Broad Run's T.J. Peeler absolutely blew up and Ross Madison continued to get things done for Heritage. Michael Prince got back to business for Stone Bridge and several Potomac Falls Panthers managed to put up nice numbers despite playing only one half of football. Read full entry and discussion »

Welcome back to the Monday (Afternoon) Quarterback. Today we're going with three quick hits from each of Friday's games. There were no big upsets, but Stone Bridge's defense had a masterful performance against Madison, Briar Woods continued to win by relying nearly entirely on its defense and Potomac Falls pitched a 54-0 shutout against Freedom. So you could say it was a defensive week. Read full entry and discussion »

Welcome back to Loudoun Extra Points, where today we'll break down the Game of the Week between Park View and Briar Woods. Welcome back to the Loudoun County Top Five Power Poll. There are no changes in the rankings this week with all five of our teams coming away with victories last week, but that doesn't mean things can't change this Friday with a couple intriguing matchups on the docket. We're back (in our regular time slot) for the Monday (Afternoon) Quarterback! Today we're going to mention a few notable stats, trends and story lines from each of Friday's six games. We had two great ones in Sterling (PF-PV) and Leesburg (BW-LC) and a get well game for Heritage. Even Valley had a strong showing, going into the half with a lead only to watch it slip away in a heartbreaking second half. But kudos to Coach Danny McGrath and his team for taking a big step in the right direction. Read full entry and discussion »

Welcome back to Top Performers, where Brooks has dominated for the most part, while Tenorio has for the most part picked second-place performers. Well, Brooks won again this week -- narrowly escaping with a 4-3 victory. In fact, the real winners were the non-picks, as only Tenorio actually predicted a top performer in the actual category the performer won (Briar Woods defense, Stone Bridge offensive line), while Brooks' quarterback pick snuck in as a playmaker.
