With many of the Loudoun teams in the Dulles District, it can be easy to overlook what's happening out in Purcellville and in the Cedar Run District. Here's an update on Loudoun Valley:
The girls' tennis team defeated Patrick Henry High School, 5-0, in its Northwest Region quarterfinal match on Tuesday. The Vikings move on to host Albermarle on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. If the Vikings beat Albermarle, they will advance to the state tournament.
The boys' tennis team saw its season end with a 6-0 loss to Albermarle on Tuesday in a Northwest Region quarterfinal match.
The girls' lacrosse team will play Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in a Cedar Run District tournament semifinal game at Liberty. If they win, they would face the winner of Battlefield and Osbourn Park at Liberty at 6 p.m on Thursday.
The boys' lacrosse team will host a Cedar Run District quarterfinal game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Stonewall Jackson. The Vikings will also host the semifinals on Thursday and the final on Friday. Game times for the semifinals are 6 and 8 p.m. and the final would be at 7 p.m.
There is a possibility the tournament final would be moved to Liberty if it rains because the school has field turf.
And finally, Cedar Run District tournaments for softball, baseball and soccer will start Monday at the higher seed in order to give teams a chance to complete their regular seasons this week.
