After a five-day layover, Heritage and Park View resumed their suspended Dulles District girls’ tennis tournament final match Wednesday in Sterling. The second-seeded Pride, who led 4-3 when darkness forced the teams off the courts last Friday, finished off the top-seeded Patriots at No. 1 doubles to clinch the match and the tournament title.

Heritage’s No. 1 tandem of Meleah Nassar and Annie Replogle were up a set on Park View’s Lisa Huynh and Thuy Nguyen when play was called Friday, and picked up right where they left off, securing the win and the championship for the Pride. The loss was only the second on the season for the Patriots who cruised to a 14-0 mark in the regular season before falling to Broad Run in their final match before the tournament. Both teams earned spots in the Virginia AA Region II tournament which begins next week with quarterfinal matches taking place on Tuesday.

The Lady Vikings (16-0) continued their perfect season with a sweep of Liberty in the first round of the AAA Liberty District tournament. Valley, which has already clinched a spot on the Virginia AAA Northern Region tournament, hosts the final on Friday.
