Sorry that I haven't posted up here in a few days as I was filling in on some D.C. United coverage (and posting blogs up here) and have also been working on a few features that have had me driving from Arlington to Purcellville to Charlottesville and back. I'm hoping those stories will be out at the end of July/beginning of August, so keep an eye out.

Not too much going on in high school sports right now but here's a cool little link from SI.com's Andy Staples: Advice to incoming recruits.

We're getting closer and closer to the football season and the teams are pushing through the final weeks of their offseason here before jumping into training camp that first week of August. There are so many teams and story lines to keep an eye on once the camps open. From Stone Bridge defending its title to Park View's recovery from losing several key seniors. There's Broad Run's continued growth and Loudoun Valley transition under Danny McGrath. Dominion also has a new coach in Karl Buckwalter and Briar Woods and Heritage will continue their development into major programs with expectations of success. Of course you can't overlook Loudoun County pushing forward in year two under Todd Hill, Potomac Falls building and Freedom's growth.

So many things to watch for and a season that I believe will be full of surprises. I'm saving some of my predictions for later in training camp, but I thought I could throw a poll up to see what some people thought about who some of the surprise teams could be.
