As part of Loudounextra.com's 2008 football preview, we ask four questions of a key member from each of the Loudoun County high school squads. Today, it's Broad Run senior Breon Earl.

I understand you won’t be lining up in the backfield as much. Talk about your new role in the offense.

They put me in the slot, which I think I’ll be better at. I’m too small in the backfield. We have a lot of speed on the outside so since our line’s not that big they can block for a split second and hopefully let the receivers do the work. … We have a new running back in [junior] T.J. [Peeler], he’s like 6-2, 190-something and he belongs back there. I think I’ll be better off in the slot with speed I can get places quicker.

You’re coming into this season as defending district championships. How does that change your approach to the season?

It’s going to be tough because we have all the hype coming to us and we still haven’t proved what we want yet so we have a lot to prove this year.

Out here, finally in shells, getting some hitting done has got to be refreshing after a long off-season. How excited are you for this season to start?

Oh man, I’ve been waiting for this ever since we lost the second game to Park View. I’ve been in the weight room since right after that.

How much does that loss stick in the back of your head coming into this year?

It’s tough just to think about it. We could have had that game, should have had that game but let it slip in the end.
